Glad I'm out of there.
It's not my day to blog, but I thought I'd write something about camp because I was there for like three days and missed two days of the 'ship for it.
The camp was based in CWU, where the guys' dorms were amazing and the girls for some reason got put in these brick-wall dorms with no bathrooms or AC. It was one of the bigger topics of discussion throughout camp.
I saw Mr. H.L. Hall speak twice, and a third time our staff met with him and he critiqued our paper in front of us. I didn't ever get an interview with him, as the camp director never emailed me back and I felt too awkward and busy already to ask him for an interview personally.
While there I took a 16ish-hour course in InDesign over those three days. I also took shorter, 1-hour courses in Opinion and Feature writing, and the psychology behind Graphic Design.
The food was horrible. I ended up going to Domino's three times. Amazingly, through the balance of me not eating anything else the whole time, I didn't gain any weight. And I was kind of hoping to. Dang.
The overall city of Ellensburg is incredibly boring. I could not live there, I'd either lose my mind or become an alcoholic.
I was disappointed in how optimistic everyone was about the future of journalism, not once did anyone bring up any possibility of the fall of print journalism. This made it completely awkward for me to try and start my story anywhere because there really was no story.
I had a brief phone conversation with Lizzie while there and that reminded me of everyone and how great you guys are. I'm excited to return Monday and start on my economy podcast. I also have to find a musical instrument now I guess. Fudge. I am not a musician.

We're glad you're back, Artur! (Nathan and I can't draw stick figures worth beans.) And yes... the future of journalism is alive in well in our basement dungeon. ;0)
